Having reached economic independence early in life as a  businessman , I always had the opportunity to choose artistic projects according to passion rather than necessity.  Freedom for an artist is a fundamental prerequisite. On the other hand as a non full-time artist I cannot work 8 hours a day on a project. Practicing guitar 8 hours a day during the first lockdown was a new experience for me and has allowed me to record many original songs for my ” synesthetic” project.

The only thing I know about synesthesia is that it is an automatic phenomenon that involves more than one sense at the same time. Sometimes while taking a photo I feel sounds. Generally it is a little bit of a melody influenced by the music style of the place I am visiting. When this happens I record the melody and later I bring it to my studio to complete the recording.

My photos are sold by galleries during exhibitions and at Sotheby’s Milano during auctions . I also work on commission. Clients have hired me for different type of works including reportages, calendars , advertising and promotional material. My clients include corporations, non profit organizations and celebrities.

All my photos are titled, signed and numbered . I produce very limited editions .Therefore, if you happen to see edition 3/3 of a photograph you know that it is the last I can print . Most of the time I print one image at a time in different size and therefore it ‘s quite unlikely that you find two Bertone’s photos that are exactly the same. The hammer price of my photos sold by Sotheby’s varies from 800 to 1600 euros excluding buyer’s premium.

A tribute to Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, has been considered inappropriate by Sotheby’ s artist selection team.
On one occasion a calendar about cars I was commissioned to shoot was censored three days before the deadline forcing me to shoot an entire new calendar in one day (see Portfolio-Work on Commission-Ferrari).
Other even more controversial photos are not on this website to avoid legal problems.
